Time to do some yearlists here? My list is fairly simple: I can’t think of any record that stands out to me in 2011. I hear a lot of people saying 2011 was a brilliant year with great music and many great releases to pick from… I simply haven’t heard them I guess… I’m drawing blanks here.
All the albums I was looking forward to greatly disappointed me (Cobra Skulls, Nothington, Banquets, Dead and Divine).
And I was already listening to End Measured Mile in late 2010, so that doesn’t count. ;)What I can come up with right now:
Make Do And Mend – End Measured Mile LP (Shield Recordings so it counts)
Nirvana – Live at The Paramount DVD
Nirvana – Nevermind reissue 4CD/DVD
Screaming Trees – Last Words – The Final Recordings – digital
Supertouch – Lost My Way 7″
State Of Mind – Knowledge Of Self LP
All On Black – Weightless CD
Fellow Project – Stable Life LP
V/A – Striving Higher Compilation LP (if not for the Blacklisted songs on there alone)
Nibiru – demo 2011I love yearlists. I discovered a couple of awesome bands by checking out what other people suggested as release of the year (like what? Well, like the gaslight anthem, rvivr, red dons, etc). I will most definately make a yearlist (and hope to make a couple of people enthousiastic about what I consider highlights of the year), but not yet… There’s a couple of releases in the mail that I want to listen before it’s lists time. Early october I posted my list on metalfan. Back then, this was my list:

1. Make do and mend – End measured mile
2. Batillus – Furnace
3. Herder – Herder

7. Downfall of Gaia/In the hearts of emperors – Split
8. Defeater – Empty days & sleepless nights
