So what do you guys (and girls) want to see on SWNK?

Who should we interview? What bands should we feature?

Are we missing sections / content?

We’re not going to promise we will be adding everything you guys suggest, but we’ll think about it for sure.

I guess I would like to see some more music from my side of the spectrum (what ever that may be) on here, but I guess that’s not going to happen any time soon. ;)

I really dug the ‘Life As A Mixtape’ articles AsIce once had, they were always a good read, would be cool to bring something like that back here.

An interview with Striking Justice, one of the hardest working bands in Dutch HC would be nice. Otis would be cool as well.

    And more (guest) columns.

Your music: You like Make Do And Mend, No Turning Back and All For Nothing right? We do cover that :) Nah, we’re open to any suggestions. Just give us some hints in bands etc. Striking Justice & Otis are good suggestions. And if you would like to see news featured: Submit it : http://www.swnk.org/submit-news/

Life As A Mixtape: Yeah I loved those too. I even suggested it to the crew and asked for suggestions on how to improve it, give it a little twist. Because I’m not a big fan of simply copying concepts. But that wasn’t picked up and we forgot about it. Any suggestions are still welcome, but yes, that’s something I can see happening again on this site for sure. Thanks for the reminder!

Columns: We’ve got a column coming up this Saturday. But I agree, I would love to see more of those too. So if anyone’s reading this that would like to write one, get in touch!

I like the life as a mixtape idea!
what about a spin-off of the collection topic on asice and that video thing where someone shows his record collection and talks about his favorite records. can’t remember where I saw that, I believe taht was on asice as well?

That’s an idea I loved as well. Dirk Trilob does those, but he’s doing them for Punx.nl. I would love to see something like that on SWNK. Anybody with a video camera that likes to pick this up, you’re welcome? :)

I love the idea of mixtapes. Could also interview Striking Justice and comply with your needs JUST KILLING TIME.

@Jonas: I don’t know if you know, but just in case: Those “Life as a mixtape” posts were more than a mixtape. We would approach someone and let them make a mixtape telling their life story.

And would be cool if you could do the Striking Justice interview, might be interesting to let someone not from the Netherlands interview them, to get that outsider perspective ;)

How about that, topic is really useful already ;)

@Pim: I knew. That format is way better than a stale mixtape. Also very interesting. :)

Adding to the outsider-perspective… I didn’t even know they existed.

I think I mentioned them in the new bands topic before, but TARANTINO from Breda could be cool for a New Breed interview. Fast and furious hardcore punk, think Black Flag vs Negative Approach with some more modern touches here and there. Saw them live twice recently and they really surprised me. I really think things could take off for these guys, now that some of the members quit Righteous Kill.

Review a classic every now and then.
Add a reviews/interviews from related styles like horrorpunk/metal/crust/sludge etc.

    #6805 Quote

A ‘Hidden Gems’ section would also be cool. Reviews of (older) records the reviewer loves, but are little known to the rest of the scene.

Yes, reviewing older records is another thing we talked about but we simply forgot about…

Hidden gems we actually do now and then, but not really in the form of a review. More like this:

    http://www.swnk.org/articles/the-guns-clevelands-best-kept-secret/
    http://www.swnk.org/articles/monsula-nickel-ep/
    http://www.swnk.org/articles/social-decay-lifes-not-hard-youre-just-soft/
    http://www.swnk.org/articles/rain/

And as for reviewing other styles. We got a big list of reviews we ‘need’ to do, so as long as we don’t have that covered we might have to wait with expanding our territory. I’m not that interested in reading metal reviews myself either.

    Keep it coming people!

don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting to review all metal releases. Some attention for styles like thrashcore wouldn’t hurt though… ;-)

So I’ve just finished the Tarantino-questions. Sent it just now and I’ll be writing questions to Striking Justice today and tomorrow.

I think i mentioned them on here somewhere before, but I saw Rott n Damned again last weekend and those young kids are awesome. 4 dudes younger than 18 (one of their dads is their roady/driver haha) playing a mix of modern hardcore/metalcore old school and crusty punk. So musicwise this is all over the place, but their relentless energy and enthousiam make them one of the coolest new bands around. So hit these kids up with a New Breed interview!

    Humor.

Aside from that: politically correct behaviour on the board.

    The second one: why?

Because the old Dutch messageboard, AsIce, was a total riot, in my opinion. There were a lot of people posting sexist, homophobic and racist bullshit; behaviour I think doesn’t belong in hardcore.

    Short update:

    - ‘Life as a mixtape’ is something we still want to do.
    - ‘Record collection of’ thing is in the works. More about that soon.
    - Classic reviews. This will happen. We’ll get a couple of reviewers discussing a record. We’ll probably start with No Warning – Suffer, Survive since opinions are all over the place on that one.
    - Striking Justice / Tarantino interviews happened.
    - SWNK is still pretty politically correct.
    - We added the bookers / promoters section. Add yourselves!
    - We would love to feature more columns, if you want to submit one, get in touch!

So, what’s next? Keep those ideas coming :)

Political correctness is the wrong word. It’s all mutual respect and code of conduct. I’m really liking the suggestions.

The Dutch board to go away, so people will start posting in the English language board.

Seriously?! As far as I can tell right now, the majority of the posters on this board are Dutch. Although I have no problems with English whatsoever, it feels pretty forced to post in English.

    #8780 Quote

I honestly don’t understand why people feel that way.

    #8781 Quote

But than again, i always found it easier to express my opinions in English.
Dutch is such an ugly, stupid language.

It’s pretty forced to post in English while most readers are Dutch though, no matter what your opinion on the Dutch language may be.

Did you type “But than again” on purpose? Not playing the grammar nazi here, just saying.

To give you an idea, in May the amount of English speaking visitors was almost double the amount of Dutch speaking visitors.

I said i thought it’s easier to express myself, not that I write it flawlessly. ;-)
