I don’t watch television that much. The stuff I like is on to late (I turn in early) and most of it I don’t like that much… Man bijt hond, Dokument, British detectives and a few series is what I like.
Last movie I’ve been to was the Heineken kidnap. Thought Rutger Hauer played very good.

I can’t watch America’s topmodel, they look so sick… ;-) So skinny!

I had to pick up a couple of movies in a rush yesterday. This is what I found:
Set up – a revenge movie with Bruce Willis. Can’t go wrong I thought. This was not what I expected. It was allright, but nothing more than that.
The mechanic – Jason Statham is a hitman. Again: can’t go wrong. This time I was right. Liked this one a lot!

Just finished “Take Shelter”. Great movie.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1675192/

Plagued by a series of apocalyptic visions, a young husband and father questions whether to shelter his family from a coming storm, or from himself.

I watched Twelve yesterday. A movie about a drugdealer and rich kids, somehow it sort of reminded me of Sin City, especially thanks to the flashbacks. A pretty strange movie if you ask me, not bad, but I’m not sure if it was very good either. But if you’d like to see 50cents naked ass, you should definitely watch this one.

This weekend I finally took time to watch Paradise Lost 1 about the WM3, now on to part 2 and 3. I also went to the movies with my daughter to watch The Muppets. Great movie, even the dutch spoken version ;-)

Still watching Alcatraz and started watching Boss, great political dirt serie. I also saw yesterday that the 3rd season of Eastbound and Down has started in the US. Loved the first 2 seasons, so will def catch up with that again!

Paradise Lost is is great (not the case itself, but the documentaries). I think it’s safe to check out 3 without seeing part I & 2 by the way, because they repeat a lot (didn’t mind that at all though).

Eastbound And Down is still great :)

Also became a big fan of Pawn Stars haha – http://www.history.com/shows/pawn-stars

I am not so good in skipping stuff, so I will watch through 2 before 3 ;-)

Pawn Stars looks good, will def try that.

2012-02-21 at 15:46 #5566

Pim

By all means, if you have the time, do check 2. But I just wanted to say it’s not mandatory. But all 3 of them are good, so I would watch em all anyway.

As for Pawn Stars, it’s just funny, brainless stuff and I like the history behind the items that people bring in. Chumlee is a hero by the way :) haha

Pawn Stars can be fun, but the grandfather needs to retire or shut up. His non-stop grumpiness is overdone & annoying.

2012-02-22 at 11:06 #5592

Pim

Some people are actually like that :) Didn’t thought it was annoying at all to be honest, but I can see your point.

Tower Heist: AVOID. THIS. Can’t remember a single thing from the entire movie.

The Walking Dead: Still awesome.

Got a huge list of films to check, hopefully I can get some done this week :)

I went to see Sproojesboom De Film today, with my 4 year old. She loves going tot the movies and this one was very appropriate. (for you none dutchies, sprookjesboom or Fairy Tale tree is a tv and merch franchise done by dutch fairy tale themepark efteling). As with the tv show, it looks cheap and loveless and is clearly just made to make a quick buck. The digital animation (motion capture no less) looks like it was done 15 years ago. Badly. But the kids in the stuffed theatre ate it all up and cheered and yelled at the screen and laughed a lot. And i was able to sit through the 70 odd minutes fairly well.

Of course this was a shitty movie and i had to pay much to much for me and my kid to get in, but watching my little girl enjoy movie theatre magic is worth the price of admission alone. Plus i got to eat fresh salty popcorn. I love fresh salty popcorn.

My wife and daughter also went to Sprookjesboom, while me and my other daughter saw the Muppets. My daughter of 4 is now explaining the magic gate of Sprookjesboom to everyone who wants to hear ;-)

Breaking Bad season 2 seems to be better than season 1 so far. Still don’t think it’s as good as people say though, but not bad either.

De Heineken Ontvoering (The Heineken Kidnapping) was pretty good. It’s not 100% accurate (they state that before the movie starts too) and I miss some of the details that were in the book, but nonetheless it’s a great story and I loved it.

Saw 1991: The Year Punk Broke yesterday. Never got around checking it out, but picked up the DVD release not too long ago. My company all fell asleep which either means I’m horrible company, they thought it sucked or they were just tired :) I loved it though. Nice backstage material and just great footage.

Finished Paradise Lost 2 and 3, although it doesn’t feel like it’s ended. Looking forward to Peter Jackson’s ‘West of Memphis’.

Started watching Once Upon A Time, pilot episode was good, something about fairy tale characters living in a small village in 2011. Could be great, will give it a few more episodes.

Watched Margin Call, great Kevin Spacey movie about an investment company. Got the tip from DWDD, really liked the movie!

Watched half of Jurassic Park 3 yesterday :) Where I did remember scenes of 1 (and I think 2) I didn’t remember a thing of 3 so far. Didn’t had more time, but I’ll be finishing that one tonight I think.
Also wanted to check the new The Walking Dead episode but no time for that either. Tonight, tonight…

I’ll be checking out Margin Call for sure. Gotta love Kevin Spacey movies.

Saw the movie version of that, thought it was horrible :)

The Walking Dead was great again. As was Eastbound And Down ;)

The Three Musketeers wasn’t that great. Not bad or anything, just not that interesting.

The movie version was based on the first Avatar cartoon series and it was the worst thing ever made.

Pearl Jam – Twenty.

While I listened to Nirvana for pretty much my entire life, I never really picked up on Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam was the uncool band of course. Which is bullshit. Eddie comes across as a really sincere guy in this documentary. Loved it. Interesting to see how much of an impact Kurt Cobain made on that band too.

I watched Coraline yesterday. I’m big fan of Neil Gaiman (although however much I like his later work such as this and stardust his earlier work is much, much better. Think Sandman, Neverwhere, American Gods. That stuff rules!) and was very curious how this book would work out on screen. Quite good actually!

I saw The Notebook last night with my girl. She hadn’t seen it and was surprised to find it in my dvd collection, amongst all the horror and weird stuff. Kind of a guilty pleasure, of course this is sugar sweet pastiche, but Ryan Gossling is boss and Rachel McAdams is about the sweetest thing ever in this movie.

For everyone that liked Pawn Stars and is into comics. You should check out Comic Book Men. I don’t know much about comics, but since Kevin Smith was involved in the project I checked it out. It’s like a comic book Pawn Stars.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2174367/

As with everything Kevin Smith does, lots of people will hate it though :)

The Hidden Face (La Cara Oculta)

Wow, what a great, tight little Spanish thriller. I highly recommend you watch this cold, please do not watch the trailer, since it gives away everything. This movie constantly toys with your expectations and how you feel for the main characters, which is great. And two of those main characters, the females, are both beautiful. And naked a lot. This one really surprised me.

That’s a great series indeed! Enjoy! Season 2 is just as good.

Can’t wait for season 3. It’s a shame they’re so damn short :)

ATTN PIM!!! ;)

I’ve sort of had it with found footage horrormovies by now, but I still watched Evidence (what a corny title…) last night, since it got some really good press on various horror blogs and websites. The first 45 minutes or so of this movie are firmly rooted in Blair Witch territory. Some kids go camping in the woods and things go bump in the night, including omnious noises, weird stuff in the trees and even a shaking tent. You’re basicly watching 4 extremely annoying people being extremely annoying. At the least one of the two chicks is hot and the other is decent. But than shit (and everything else, including the kitchen sink. And the stove, the refrigerator, the dishwasher and the toaster) hits the fan and you’re chest deep in whattheflyingFUCKjusthappened??? for about half an hour. Epileptics or those prone to motion sickness need not apply, because most of the footage in this segment looks like it was shot from a rolling roller coaster. Blink and you’ll miss some sick shit or other.

I’m not sure I personnally really liked it, I was mainly gobsmacked by that insane final act. I do think anyone still really into FF-horror would get a kick out of this. So give it a go, it will only take up 70 minutes of your life. Eventhough you will need to get past that annoying first act.

2012-03-09 at 09:13 #5943

Pim

Thanks for the tip! Going to check that one out for sure!

Saw ep. 10 of season 2 of The Walking Dead. I wasn’t really impressed with it.
Saw ep. 14 of season 4 of Fringe. I still like it, but this ep. wasn’t great either.

2012-03-12 at 11:00 #5999

I keep on watching Fringe because I started that years ago, but I find it a lot less interesting these days.

The Walking Dead on the other hand. Damn, I loved every single episode they did so far. Can’t wait to check out the new one (12). Ah fuck it. Going to check it right now.

watched Star Wars 3D in the cinema this weekend. although I think the 3D not really added something, it’s still great to see Star Wars on a big screen with nice sound. still lovin’ Episode 1, Darth Maul is king!

on the series side I’m still watching Boss, Once Upon A Time and Eastbound And Down plus I started with Homeland (nice first episode). I also watched College Tour (with Sting), which I really enjoyed.
