Finally started s2 of Breaking bad. I watched the first four episodes and it’s epic allready! Love that serie! It only gets better! I didn’t understand all the fuzz about the show until I got to season 3. Then I was hooked.
Oh and Rik, I tried to watch “Some Guy Who Kills People” yesterday, but I turned it off halfway through. Could be that I wasn’t in the mood or something, but it couldn’t hold my attention at all.
I can see why people wouldnt like that movie, it has exactly the weird atmosphere that I love.
I watched some guy who kills people yesterday. I also wasn’t impressed.
I also watched Galaxy quest. Good fun!
Nailbiter. Starts out as a tornado-movie, but soon turns out to be a
Spoilersort-of-werewolf movie with tornados instead of full moons. Wasn’t much impressed, since a lot was left unexplained and it did not make a lot of sense to me most of the time.
Pim, you might like this one, strong X-files vibe going on.
the kids have vacation, so this weekend I watched ‘Mijn Opa Is Een Bankrover’, ‘Sprookjesboom de Film’ and ‘The Muppets’ ;-)
To compensate I started watching Zombibi, but fell asleep (not because it’s a bad movie)
Will be checking that one out Rik, thanks for the tip! (If it sucks I’ll take that back hehe)
Tony – avoid this one. What a stinker… I was waiting for something to happen and then it just ended… pfff…
The experiment – much, much better. Forrest Whitakker is going completely psycho. Loved it! I am told though that the German version of this movie is better than this one. Will need to check that one out.I actually enjoyed Tony a lot. Very good and disturbing character study if you ask me. Even if it is rather uneventful.
Das Experiment (the german version) I saw in the cinema when it came out and I did not like that one at all. Completely unbelieveble for me, even though it is (vaguely) based on a real life experiment.
Tony, that serial killer movie? I enjoyed that one.
I’ve seen Das Experiment before The Experiment. The remake is kinda pointless (like the recent Millenium remake), since the original is pretty much the same. I loved it, not unbelievable to me at all. But then again I might have less hope for humanity then you do Rik
In the same category: Die Welle. Loved it. Based Third Wave (http://music.saidanddone.org/track/third-wave) upon it.Can’t understand that both of you enjoyed Tony…
I didn’t know the experiment was a remake. Otherwise I would have gotten the original (although I think that is also a remake…). Did you know that Die Welle was a remake as well? Check: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083316/
Watched that film when I was still at school. Impressive movie! I want to watch Die Welle and hope it leaves as big an impression as The Wave did.I know, but I haven’t seen The Wave myself so I don’t know if you’re going to be dissapointed with Die Well. I just loved the idea behind it.
I sat down with some friends for a Toy Story marathon tonight. Don’t know why, but I had not seen any of the films yet. Of course, seeing it now for the first time, the first and second film look incredibly dated, almost like watching a playstation 2 game. Fortunately, the stories are good. Part 3 is the best of the bunch of course, top notch animation and great story. Not a kids film by far, themes are way too dark. And what kid today will know what a Fisher Price phone looks like…
yesterday was b-movie day…
The expendables – almost all action stars are there… Gotta be good. Enjoyed it, again. Will check out part II later this month I hope.
Recoil – Steve Austin, Danny Trejo, a heavy eighties action movie vibe. I dig it!
Rambo IV – had not yet seen this one. Did now and enjoyed it.After all that I tried to turn my brains back on… ;-)
Jeff, who lives at home
Great movie. Little bit of stoner humor, comedy, emo and feel good. What else do you whant on a sunday afternoon.
Detention. Holy shit! If you thought cabin in the woods was meta, you haven’t seen this piece of brilliantly funny insanity. What starts of as Scream by way of Scott Pilgrim meets Dawson’s Creek soon goes completely off the hook in referencing, spoofing and homaging everything AND the kitchen sink from here to 1992. And back. And back again. And again. All in completely bonkers story that somehow manages to still make sense. A bit. There’s no way I can describe this movie, but I thought it was awesome. Best if you grew up in the 90′s though.
Have that one ready to go. Might watch it tomorrow then ;)
Finished season 1 of Lost again tonight. So good. Dutch subtitles (watching with someone who needs them) that came with it are terrible though. Holy shit. Made me purchase the boxset with all seasons it, just because of that. That… and because it will feel at home next to my X-Files boxset ;)
I can see why a lot of reviewers hate it (just read some pretty vile ones) but I loved it. Come on, this has a movie in a movie in a movie. In a movie.
Pretty awesome to hear Hole in that movie
Excellent music in the movie anyway haha.Is it bad that I recognized Mmmmbop because of the yeeeeeah before they actually started singing the song?
Fun movie indeed Rik!
Hahaha, I had the same thing with mmmmbop.
Battleship. Hahahahahahahahaha. C-movie with an A budget. I might have played a game of Battleship once or twice, but even that was more interesting than this movie.
Yeah, didn’t see that, but aliens? Really, ALIENS? WTF have aliens got to do with the battleship game?!
All this movie needed was a GIGANTIC WALL between 2 battle fleets ;)
Hahaha, i guess watching two guys play an actual game of Battleship would be more interesting.
I hear there’s a Monopoly live action movie on the way, can’t wait til they do Rubik’s Cube. (might be an cool addition to the Cube series).
I’ve been watching all of Red Dwarf
Mientras duermes (Sleep Tight)
Creepy janitor fucks with the lives of the inhabitants of the appartment building he works at. Cool Spanish thrillerdrama.
The Revenant
Zombie buddy movie/dark comedy. A bit all over the place and the coherent/articulate zombie premise was done better in Deadheads, but this movie came first. Takes too long to get going and looses a lot of steam in the end, but the Boondock Saints of the Dead angle in the middle hour is pretty cool. Liked it despite it’s flaws.
Saw this documentary on Richard Wallace yesterday (Obsessive Compulsive Hoarder) :
Shocking to say the least… Dutch viewers can still watch it on rtlgemist.nl (“Mijn leven in puin”), the original English broadcast can probably be downloaded somewhere…
Looks like my house. Kinda.
Dude needed to plan going to the toilet. Couldn’t just go when he needed to, because it was more or less a half hour travel…
He ate 2 eggs every day, the travel to the kitchen etc did burn more calories than he could eat…
God Bless America
Terminally ill middle age guy loses his job and starts killing people who he thinks are to blame for the downfall of American society, ranging from reallife tv stars to people talking and using their phone in movie theater. Writer director Bobcat Goldthwait never was the most subtle of guys, he’s definately kicking in a lot of open doors here. His points are valid and the first half hour is very strong with some inspired rants from deeply frustrated everyman Frank (that dude who played Pete on Dharma & Greg), but once the killing starts, the satire gets a little too easy and it’s all down hill from there. This basicly is Super without the superhero angle, including the overly enthousiastic teenage sidekick, but that movie handled the subject matter far better. Plus this movie is so ‘now’ in it’s popculture references, nobody will have a clue what these people are talking about in ten years. As if anybody will still remember who Diablo Cody was…
Breaking Bad is still awesome. Damn.
@ Rik: Who’s Diablo Cody?
Something else:

;)
Hahaha, RLY?
Diablo Cody is the former stripper who wrote the script for Juno, Jennifer’s Body and United States of Tara. And the upcoming Evil Dead reboot.
And that Kevin Smith / Tim Burton bit, there’s an awesome bit about that on the An Evening With Kevin Smith dvd. Great anecdote.

The Office USA is ending after next season. Talk shit about it whatever you want, and yes it wasn’t as good as with Steve Carell, but still I’m going to miss it.
I watched a load of Penn & Teller Bullshit lately. Great serie!
Watched a lot of that some years ago, but I kinda lost interest at some point. Felt like every episode was more of the same.
I see what you mean. I watched perhaps 20 episodes in 8 days. After a while you’re suprised to see something new. Had a blast with it, but will probably not watch another episode for some years.
Ik didn’t like Forbrydelsen as much as I expected. On the other end… I find Falling Skies very fascinating. Next up is a single season of Awake.
Does anyone know if Touch and Continuum are any good?
I watched The Expendables 2 yesterday and loved every second of it. Really enjoyable movie for all the oldschool actionmovielovers.
