A new song (video) and pre-orders are up for the new Make Do And Mend record, Everything You Ever Loved
http://makedoandmend.merchnow.com/
So far, not sure about the new song. Sounds a bit (too) polished to me, lacking that raw and recognizable edge that made End Measured Mile so great.
But let’s wait and see what this record brings. I hated EMM the first time I heard it.
When I read your post I feared for the worst, but this sounds a lot like End Measured Mile to me? Yes it’s a bit more polished (as in the whole sound is less direct, his voice still sounds the same), and hopefully this is one of the more relaxed songs, but I like it!

(I’m going to put this on the frontpage myself now)
I’m always the sceptic Pim, pessimistic by nature. ;)
Second listen already sounded a lot beter, haha.
I kinda like the song, but do agree upon the fact that it sounds more polished and lacks that raw edge of EMM.. Also, it sounds softer as a whole to me, when comparing it songs of EMM or Bodies of Water. I’m hoping the rest of the album will be more raw like their earlier releases. In the end, I am pretty siked about this release!
We also should propably take into account that youtube’s sound compression sucks. So the sound of this video may not be reprezentative of the sound of the actual album at all.
But does that also count for the 1080p audio stream?
They played Lucky live in Eindhoven last night and it was awesome. Fitted in with the rest of the set perfectly.
Should have been there… Talked about when the tour was announced, but totally forgot about it. Rest of the line-up was pretty terrible, but would have loved to see Make Do And Mend.
They’ re coming over again later this year with la dispute and title fight. Theres a show in Amsterdam if I’m not mistaken.
Set Your Goals was awefull, Cancer Bats did a good show but did not hold my attention. I was really surprised by Everytime I Die. Not music I would listen to at home, but their show was insane. Such energy, the ejtire band went nuts and you could tellt was not an act, but pure sincerity. All in all one of the coolest sets I saw this year.
September 22nd at Sugar Factory Amsterdam.
I’ll try to remember that / keep an eye on it! Would be cool to see both Title Fight & Make Do And Mend!
I’m going to try and see that package in Antwerp.
Looking forward to the new cd, the show this saturday was great though not their best one, and the bad sound didn’t help much… also trying to go to the package in Antwerp!
It seems End Measured Mile is stuck in my CD player (in the car) again
Cool, did not know they were coming to antwerp as well. I don’t like both Title Fight and La Dispute (putting it mildly) but I’ll probably will be there again for MDAM.
This band always seems to come over in packages I don’t like, haha.
End Measured Mile is my favorite album from last year (shield recordings release is from 2011)! Best discovery since a long time.
Ohw, and the new song sounds great!Great track. Maybe it’s ME who’s getting soft.
You big ol’ teddybear you.
They released the 2nd song of the album, Disassemble! I like it!

Nice one again, looking forward to the album!
Me too! First time I heard ‘Lucky’ I was a bit sceptic.. However, after listening to that song (a lot) and now this one, I am really siked!
Just heard Disassemble for the first time.
Dafuq?!!
Sounds like The Killers…perhaps it will grow on me like Lucky did, but for now, this confirms my worst fears… :-(
Well…merch did not get any better. Holy shit! :P
Just listened that Disassemble song again. Still like it, I don’t hear any Killers in there. If I would be nitpicking I could say there’s a certain vocal line that sounds a tad too long, but that’s all (aside from the more ‘produced’ sound).
I decided I will listen to the entire album at least 10 times before I will form and state my honest opinion, haha. Until then, no comments. :P
I’m extremely fearful, but then again, almost all my favourite albums (including End Measured Mile) I hated when I first heard them.
Any opinions yet? I’m still very much digesting this… But for now, I see festival fields filled with pink hatted people in the future of this band. That’s both a good and a bad thing I guess.
My first impression was pretty good. Some tracks are better than others (but that’s pretty much always the case), it’s no End Measured Mile, but all in all…. Not bad at all.
I don’t think I’ll be listening to this one as much as End Measured Mile though, but maybe it will grow on me.
Funny thing is, I like the two ‘ballads’ very much, especially St. Anne, because of the beautiful lyrics.
Lucky is the stand out song by far, if you ask me. It does not even fit in very well with the rest of the record, IMHO.
Listened to it 8 times by now and there are still songs i can’t recall after yhe record is over.
Been listening to this album quite a lot these last couple of days and overall I like it a lot. Some great songs on it! However, I also have that I cannot recall all the songs when the album is over. But well, just have to listen to it some more I guess!
