KICKBACK @ 013 (Tilburg)
Supportbands tba.
Who’s coming? I’m thinking about going to this gig instead of Brussels. Brussels is a bit shorter to me, but a sunday is easier then a thursday…
Brussels for me, this tour is going to be amazing.
Rise and Fall and Blind To Faith are going to play this show as well.
Yo Dutchies, will there be pre-sale? And do you guys think presale will be necessary?
Ik kom af viezerikken.
Pissende wijfjes
seing them tonight, psyched
shitty support bands thoughWe’re giving away 2 x 2 tickets to the show tomorrow:

Geen Feesthoed en geen Twister. Ik betaal wel gewoon.
well that was a let down. They mostly played songs from the 2 last albums, only will to power, heaven and hell and ruining the show from the previous records, sound was pretty bad
Show was sold out so the venue was packed…with the shittiest public, i really can’t take “big” shows anymoreNo Letdown yesterday.
Blind to faith “blew” like a motherfucker. Fast, slow, heavy. Cool!
Rise & Fall were awesome!! i really like the depth in a lot of their songs. During faith/fate i received a textmessage from my dad stating that my uncle had just passed away (stomach cancer). Woo is life… Great show though and i picked up some merch as well.
Kickback played a decent show good variation in songs from almost every album and Stephen was on the prowl as usual. After throwing a full can across the venue which crashed against the wall in between the light -and sound guys, the show stopped quite abrubtly after the last 2 songs and the soundguy was pretty pissed off seeing him closing the curtains and everybody had to get out asap. fitting end i guess…Good show. Kickback did what you could expect…

(And no, i’m not gonna tell that to Stephan’s face.

David: He isn’t talking about the 013 show, he posted that while the show in Tilburg didn’t even happen yet. It’s for a reason we’re talking English on here, he’s from France ;)
The show in Brussels was nothing compared to sunday, at least on the being a dick-factor.
No, au contraire… It was a chill show actually…
They probably have a few more friends in Brussels that would not let them get away with acting like an ass…

)Well, when it comes to Kickback, it kinda comes with the whole act and it’s part of the charm of the band…given the reputation/legend you have to expect some stupid violence throughout the show.
I actually was, weirdly, disappointed by the lack of violence/insults from the band on saturday haha
But then, the first time i saw them they spent their whole set avoiding mud being thrown at them by the “irritated” audience hahahaQuote:

)My thoughts exactly.. I guess eventually he’ll wind up hitting a large bad ass in the crowd or some venue-crew with enough muscle will beat the shit out of him some day. Kickback.. what’s in a name.
As for the ‘it’s part of the whole act’ argument.. putting up an act is far from what I appreciate in bands, or people in general for that matter. Especially when you’re being called ‘friend’ twice in one minute while buying two t-shirts from Stephen at his car. At least if he would have tried to rip me off and was rude as on stage it would seem real to me. I believe their tuff though, without a doubt, just not when you have money in your hands.
Forever War will always be one of the very best albums in my collection and has inspired me a great deal, still to this day. But as for this act.. no thanks. Hence, some mixed feelings.
The fact they let me down because they had a band argument just before departure in Paris when I (thought I) had them headlining my show years ago kind of was the last straw for me in supporting them like I did earlier.
He has been beaten the shit out of him before, but the thing is: he doesn’t care.
And as far as the act goes: I think it’s a way to stay relevant. Look at this thread, we are talking about their attitude and stuff. So, some people might read it and check them out on shows out of curioisty (“is it really thad bad?”).
I don’t care a lot if they want to be assholes. In fact, a show like Tilburg, with that atmosphere, it does something to me. I mean, you can go to a Crawlspace, Nasty or some other beatdown-like band, and you know shit like fights can happen or that it can be very hard in the pit. But with Kickback, at some shows, you have the feeling like they can come after you in person any time. It’s not a pleasant feeling, but it contributes to the whole image. And from time to time, I like a dirty, fucked up and filthy atmosphere like that. It puts you back with your feet on the ground
For the music: the older things like Forever War are cool albums, but don’t do that much to me. No Surrender is the contrairy. At first I didn’t get it, I had the feeling they were trying to push boundaries too far and tried to hard to make something different. But after a while I got it. Now it’s one of my favourite records of all time. So hard, so difficult, so much hate and anger. “Et Le Diable…” even goes a step further. Not the cd you put on while doing a road trip in the sun. But the energy, the atmosphere it brings on. Just wow…
Hm, i get what you are saying. Somehow i prefer to see smiling faces and people having fun, both on stage and off. That’s probably why I like so many crappy bands. :-)
Most of the time me too. But I have those days when “I just can’t hate enough”… ;)

Putting up an act to build an image sucks to me. If that’s what you need to get people curious it’s pretty sad. Why they think they need it (if they do) I don’t understand as they’re always ahead of their time and other bands. The Sheer Terror reference then reminds me of a band that’s also not very positive, but remain themselves.
Nasty reminds me of the worst bandnames topic I will post in later
